TRAVELING TO STELLA MARIS
When traveling to an 'Out Island' in the Bahamas such as Long Island, you need to consider the smaller local airlines.  There are two international airports in Long Island, Stella Maris (SML) and Deadman's Cay (LGI).  We highly recommend the Stella Maris Aiport with its newly resurfaced airstrip and renovated buildings. The Stella Maris Airport is only five minutes from the Goombay House by car.  The Deadman's Cay Airport is about one hour and ten minutes away.
Due to the remote location of Long Island, most travellers will travel to our island via Nassau (NAS).  If you are able to get to Nassau by 1 PM, you have a few local airlines that can take you to Stella Maris Airport. See airline links below.

Private Pilots and Air Charters are also welcome at the Stella Maris Airport.
Remember that you are in the Bahamas to relax and slow down your pace.
Make sure you have plenty of time between connecting flights.

Our favorite local airlines are Southern Air and Pineapple Air.

Call ahead and arrange for a Taxi to pick you up at the Airport.  For Taxi and Rental Car information, see the 'Getting Around' page.

If you are arriving by boat, see marina information on the 'Boating/Fishing' page.

Pack light, we suggest using softsided duffelbags and medium sized coolers.  The baggage weight limit per person for local airlines is around 40 pounds.  If you travel as a group or family, they will use the total weight of the combined luggage.
